Artist Statement

I have created art from many materials and processes – from stone carvings to ephemeral snow sculptures, to pen and ink illustrations and watercolor paintings. No matter the tools, I always find myself coming back to the same themes – femininity, mindfulness, and mythology, expressed through the human figure. I never get tired of exploring the figure and finding all of the different energies and emotions that I can reveal by playing with gestures, colors, and composition.

Biography

Katie Duffy McGeehin is an artist based in Jersey City, NJ. She studied various forms of art at East Carolina University, but concentrated in sculpture. Most of McGeehin’s early body of work is carvings from stone, plaster, and concrete. While exploring art after school, McGeehin fell in love with watercolor. A total contrast to carving stone — watercolor is smooth and calming. What started as a way to relax and unplug has become one of her greatest passions.

Katie Duffy McGeehin has exhibited and sold her work throughout NYC, New Jersey, Connecticut, Philadelphia, and North Carolina.
