Aliza Augustine is a fine art photographer whose experience as a painter adds depth to her work. The portraits shown here are from her latest series “Documenting the Holocaust: Children of Holocaust Survivors.”
Augustine has a BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. After attending a Residency in Photography at the School of Visual Arts 2006 her major series have been narrative photographs dealing with family, socio-political issues, feminism, gender and genocide.
Since then her work has been shown in solo shows at Rutgers and Kean University and the Monmouth Museum. Her frequent groups shows have been in Manhattan, the tri-state area and around the US in venues that include The Jersey City Museum in Jersey City, NJ. Aljira Gallery in Newark, NJ, The Maloney Gallery at the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ. and PPAC in Philadelphia, PA.
She has received a grant from the Puffin Foundation. Recently she received the Julia Cameron Award for Women Photographers in the category Documentary and Editorial. Additional information is available on her website www.alizaaugustine.com
